Volunteer Jobs
Set-up (Mainly Wednesday)
Tables, chairs, tiki torches, and
firewood at Bolsa Chica beach. Set up tables and chairs in the
hotel garden and at the CSULB studios for breakfasts and lunches.
Anyone with a truck is especially appreciated.
Tear-down (Sunday and Monday)
Undo what we did on Wednesday.
Airport Pick-ups and Returns
(Wednesday, Sunday, and Monday)
Over 350 people will be flying in and
need to be picked up from LAX, OC (SNA), or LGB airport. Susan Loo
is transportation supervisor and will be preparing a detailed
schedule. We will need people to drive our five rented
15-passenger vans and also a few people with their own vans (vehicle
expense reimbursement applies).
Daily Transportation
Three or four 15-passenger vans that
will need to make regular runs between the hotel and the campus and
also provide transportation for the directors and VIPs to special
meetings and events. Anyone who wants to hob-knob with ballet
directors and master teachers will like this job.
Meals
We’re hosting 600 people for breakfast,
lunch, and dinner for three and half days. This is the area that we
need the most people to help. Young dancers need to eat healthily
and they’ll be hungry after dancing all day. We’re doing them a big
favor by providing healthy meals. Volunteer shifts will be
4-hours. Pick your time of day.
Hospitality
Throughout the festival, we need lots of
smiling volunteers to greet, register, and guide our guests. This
will be a first visit to Long Beach for a majority of the
participants and we want them to remember it fondly. We also need
dressing room and theater monitors at the Carpenter Center (CSULB).
Decorations
Assist in the creation of decorations
and centerpieces for the three different themed dinners: Mexican,
Chinese, and “Oscars Night.” There will be room decorations plus
centerpieces for 60 round tables as well as the food tables.
Security
Patrol the hotel all night and the
studios during the day to keep our precious young dancers
comfortably safe.
